One simple method for combating this is already built into many vehicle dashboards: the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning light. While often viewed as a safety feature designed to prevent blowouts, a fully operational TPMS is also one of the most effective, automated systems for maintaining optimal fuel efficiency.

In addition, driving on soft tyres accelerates uneven tread wear, forcing the purchase of replacements sooner than would otherwise be necessary, compounding environmental waste.
